This past Saturday, I visited Fireplace Inn, my first stop on the Chicago Beer Garden Tour. Fireplace in is located in the Old Town neighborhood at 1448 N. Wells.
Fireplace Inn, shortened to us locals as just Fireplace treated my group to a great time with delicious food and tasty drinks. As we all know, a cold beer on a hott day always does a body good. Fireplace has the usual beer line-up and also sports the Goose Island brand; you can never go wrong with a 312. More importantly Fireplace is well known Vodka Lemonades and John Daly’s as well. It is my recent knowledge and now all yours that a John Daly is the adult version of an Arnold Palmer, iced tea, lemonade, and vodka. They serve these two drinks in pint glasses or pitchers to share with your friends.
Fireplace makes it no secret to their customers that they are proud of their BBQ Ribs so we rolled the dice and ordered a few slabs to share; we also order chips and guac. I would suggest both to those of you planning on visiting Fireplace soon.
The great thing about Fireplace is you can dress up or down as you please. The patrons that day wore anything from shorts and flip flops to jeans and button downs.
As you leave Fireplace or before you stop in, I also suggest stopping at Benchmark, located just north or at Suite Lounge which is just to the south. Benchmark has a very similar vibe as Fireplace so the crowds tend to mesh well. Suite Lounge is a more night time spot and has a clubbier vibe for the night crew.
All in all, my friends and I had a great time at Fireplace, the food, drinks, and service was all superb. I have been there in the past after a softball game in shorts and a t-shirt or on a Saturday night in more casual clothes. I suggest you all do the same as you will not be disappointed in either capacity.
