So, you got that Worlds Greatest Dad coffee mug on Sunday and you’ve been basking in its warmth since then. Perhaps you’ve been wondering what to do to perhaps make sure you get that World’s Greatest Dad tie next Father’s Day. As luck would have it, there are some great upcoming opportunities here in Cincinnati to turn off the TV and make some memories with your kids.
This Thursday you can have a variety of fun at the Kid’s Adventure Expo presented by the Hamilton County Park District held at Coney Island. Activities run from 9:30 – 12:30 and 1:30 – 4:30 and they’re all free. Tour a towboat, try the climbing wall, paddle a raft on Lake Como, wet a fishing line, see farm animals, take a nature walk, learn about the weather and just have a boatload of fun. More information is online.
If you and/or your youngster need a little competition to make things interesting, mark your calendar for the next adult/child fishing tournament at Sharon Lake. Teams will compete to win prizes and bragging rights. Any species of fish can be weighed in. To compete, one member of each team must be under 16 years of age (your child) and one over 16 (you). The tournament entry fee is $20.00 per two-person team and includes boat rental. This fun-filled competition will be on Saturday, July 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Nothing bonds like time outdoors. I lost my dad over 24 Father’s Days ago. While we watched plenty of TV together, I can’t recall a single thing about the shows or any conversation we had during them. What I can tell you plenty about are the times we fished, camped, or just spent time together outdoors. So, get outside together and earn that tie.
