How could you spend an afternoon on Father’s Day with Dad? How about admiring classic muscle cars, gorgeous street machines, and beautiful motorcycles participating in the fifth annual Car & Bike Show at Mt. Christian Church in Joppa MD? The event is sponsored by The Mountain Bikers Motorcycle Club whose members are Christian motorcycle enthusiasts from the Church. This year’s gathering proved to be the best show ever with ideal weather, free hot dogs and water, and more than 230 show exhibitors (170 cars and 75 bikes).
Participant cars included; A 1955 Ford F-100 pick up with a hydraulic bed that lifted like a ‘dump truck’ (see attached photos). One beautiful chopped and smoothed pale yellow 1955 Chevy tudor sedan sporting a big block for power, independent front suspension and a fully appointed leather interior. Another ‘55 Chevrolet was tastefully done in two-tone black and gray sporting the pro-street look, including a supercharged small block.
Let us not forget some of the true American factory muscle cars, like a 1966 Mustang Shelby GT-350 Hertz. That’s right, a ‘rent-a-racer’ as it was called in ’66. This particular car had air conditioning and power steering. Also attending and in the Ford family was a nicely restored 1971 Boss 351 Mustang. This was the only year the Boss 351 was manufactured. It was an original down to its Magnum 500 wheels. How about a better than new, 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, powered by the factory 383 Magnum with cast iron exhaust headers, the original style chrome exhaust tips, and a beautiful copper paint job. The list can go on and on, so please take a few minutes to view the attached slide show.
Judging of the show was handled by spectator vote. This usually means the car or bike with the most flash and crowd appeal will win their respective class. Announcing the class winners of this year’s event was fellow Mt. Christian Church member and local auto celebrity Dave Serio of WCBM’s, You Auto-Know program. His humor and wit made it that much more enjoyable for the participants and spectators. The list of winners is shown below.
Thanks again for your continued support to the hobby of Hot Rodding and The American Muscle Car.
