If you’re looking for something fun & healthy to do with your family why not visit the Gilbert Farmer’s Market? Open every Saturday morning from 7-11 and featuring a variety of local vendors, the market is a great way to support local businesses, explore organic and sustainable produce and try something new.
The vendor list has grown since the market started and you can sample everything from sweet to spicy. We picked up a jar of fire-roasted salsa, gourmet popcorn and some corn, squash and potatoes. http://www.gilbertfarmersmarket.com/Gilbert_Farmers_Market/Our_Vendors.html
We enjoyed breakfast while sitting in the shade, listening to local musicians play. For a buck, we bought a few raffle tickets and were excited to win a vase from a local artist. Then we moseyed on over to the petting zoo and said hello to goats, chickens, bunnies, kitties and made a couple of piglets squeal.
To cool off before leaving we danced through the downtown Gilbert splash pad.
Eating local, sustainable, organic produce is an excellent way to move toward healthful living. Having fun with your family, being active and contributing to your community is a win for everyone. Check it out!
