On June 22, 2011, ex felon, Vasco Thompson, was deposed in the Casey Anthony trial. Represented by Matt Morgan (of the same firm who represents Zenaida Gonzalez) and John Dill, Vasco Thompson has repeatedly stated on national television that he does not know, nor has he ever spoken to George Anthony. The defense filed a motion to add Vasco Thompson to their witness list as they believe that George and Vasco Thompson made four phone calls to each other on July 14, 2008; the day before Cindy Anthony reported her granddaughter, Caylee Anthony missing.

Casey Anthony is currently on trial in Orlando, Florida for the murder of her two-year-old daughter Caylee. The prosecution states Casey drugged Caylee with chloroform then suffocated her with duct tape. The defense states that Caylee Anthony drowned in the family swimming pool and her grandfather covered up the accident.

Speaking during a live press conference, Vasco Thompson stated, “I have no idea who George Anthony is. I just met him — seen him on TV. I never talked to George Anthony. And I never — like I said, I never — I don`t know him. And the phone number they got in question, I didn`t have that phone number until February of `09.”

HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell spoke with Matt Morgan on June 22, 2011 regarding the deposition and prior statements made by Matt Morgan that they have proof from the phone company that Vasco Thompson did not have the phone during the time period the defense alleges.
Matt Morgan, Vasco Thompson’s attorney stated in a live interview to Jane Velez-Mitchell, “Jane, you hit the nail on the head when you said this whole situation is bizarre, because it truly is. And perhaps the most bizarre thing about this whole occurrence is the state attorney`s office chose not to participate in the deposition.
“And so the deposition went as we expected it to go, fairly uneventful. Vasco gave the same story that we`ve been giving the press and, you know, no real event took place.”
Attorney for both Vasco Thompson and Zenaida Gonzalez John Dill spoke next, “Inasmuch as the defense throws a name out there, tries to put allegations around it and then tries to back it up or back off it.
“Vasco went in today and said he doesn`t know anybody involved in this case, doesn`t know Lee Anthony, Cindy Anthony, Casey Anthony, never talked to George Anthony. And they filed a motion that says that he has a relationship with George Anthony.
“So, again, we feel this is just another action of the defense, just throwing a name out there, doesn`t matter what happens to that person, like Zenaida, who`s been dealing with this for three years now, and then see what happens after that. And this is unacceptable.”
