There is a person in the five fold ministry that even those not in the church know about. This is the Evangelist. The Evangelist is the one that is out front showing God to as many people as they can reach.
The Evangelist is to be the front-man for the church. He is the one sent into the highways and the byways compelling them to come in. His job is not to just bring the masses to belief in Jesus, but to get them into the church.
Many Evangelists are trying to get them into the kingdom and not getting them to look for a local church to become attached to. People have fallen by the wayside, because they have not found somewhere to be planted.
The Evangelists have been less concerned with being connected to a church or churches in the area where they are. This needs to be a priority. Salvation is not the end of ministry but merely the beginning. If they do not get the church training and the building them back up that they need, they are the seed that fell in among the weeds. They will get discouraged and many will walk away or never grow because they have no direction.
The job of the Evangelist is very important and necessary, but they need to feed the new believers into a church where they can be fed.
The churches also need to realize that it is harder to get new believers or even non-believers into the church if they do not have someone on the street compelling them to come in.
