“Get Involved: Change the World!” is the platform the new Miss Virginia 2011 will take to Virginians, and possibly, people throughout the Unites State over the next year.
Elizabeth Crot was crowned Miss Virginia 2011 Saturday night in Roanoke.
Elizabeth, 22, made her third run for Miss Virginia his year, having also competed in 2009 and 2008.
“I would like to earn a master’s degree in women’s studies and eventually a doctorate in diversity studies,” she told HamptonRoads.com. “I want to reverse the stereotype of the ‘pageant girl,’ which I can achieve through my out-of-the-box way of thinking.”
Elizabeth will compete in the Miss America 2012 pageant, next January in Las Vegas.
A vocalist, she entered this year’s state pageant as winner of the Miss Arlington pageant.
She was crowned by outgoing Miss Virginia 2010 Caitlin Uze, who spent her reign promoting her platform, “Building Positive Self-Image.”
“Get to know yourself as best you can; you are the only person that you will have to spend every second with for the rest of your life,” she wrote on her website. “If you can, donate to charity, and volunteer your time; you are fortunate enough to be able to help those who are not, and you may be surprised to find that you benefit from helping others as much as they benefit from your help. Use your talents for good, and express yourself creatively.”
