With E3 2011 scheduled for June 6-9th which is less than a mere two weeks away what are some of the games you can expect to see? I’ll give a preview for some of the major games scheduled to make an appearance but don’t forget, E3 is usually loaded with unannounced surprises!
Sony’s press conference takes place on Monday June 6th at 8pm EST at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. You can expect to see/hear about Sony’s upcoming new handheld the NGP (Next Generation Portable). As far as first party software goes expect to see Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Twisted Metal and Resistance 3 all make appearances in some form whether it is screenshots or gameplay footage. There’s speculation if The Last Guardian will make an appearance or not with it’s currently rumored release date of 2012. Also expect to see some huge 3rd party multiplatform titles in action such as the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Microsoft’s press conference takes place on Monday June 6th at 12:30pm EST at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. Microsoft will show off previously announced titles such as Gears of War 3 which is set to release Sept 20th in the US, Forza Motorsport 4 which was announced at last year’s E3, also some multiplatform titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Expect to hear some announcements about “hardcore” titles for the Kinect which launched last year and has had a serious lack of software to this point. Don’t expect to hear any hardware announcements from Microsoft this year although there is always the possibility of a surprise.
Nintendo’s press conference takes place on June 7th at 12pm EST at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Nintendo will finally show off and give first details on their next home console codenamed “Cafe” & “Wii2” which will launch in 2012 after months of speculation. Also expect to see tons of software shown off for the recently released 3DS handheld, with titles like Kid Icarus: Uprising, Resident Evil: Revelations, and the next Mario game. They will most likely also show off some Wii software which has been scarce so far in 2011 with games like The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and perhaps a few surprise un-announced titles. Nintendo has said the least so far out of the three major companies so expect them to have the most surprises in store.
Of course there are other titles that have been rumored to be making an appearance at E3. The one I’m anticipating the most is Crytek UK’s announcement which is rumored to be TimeSplitters 4. How about you guys? Let me know in the comments what you’re looking forward to the most!
