BURBANK, Los Angeles, Ca 16 May 2011–With Romeo voted off last week, the semi-finals is down to actress Kirstie Alley, Disney start Chelsea Kane, Karate Kid Ralph Macchio and Pitsburgh Steeler Hines Ward. At the beginning of the season, the odds had Kane and Kendra Wilkinson as the favorites.

Who could have imagined then that the oldest contestant, Kirstie Alley would still be around and kicking and she wouldn’t be the one with the injuries. Alley and her professional dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy are doing well, with Chmerkovskiy insisting last week that Alley up her calorie intake.
On the injured list are Ralph Macchio and Ward’s professional dance partner Kym Johnson.
Alley at 60 has shown it isn’t just her fans, but her dancing. She and Chmerkovskiy have the high score for the cha cha cha (tied with Kane and her partner Mark Ballas), the samba (again tied with Kane) and has the high score for the Argentine tango–she’s the only one of the four who has performed this dance in competition.
Alley has the low score for the waltz with 22 and the salsa (with 25). But the high score is only one point above that (Kane and Ballas with 26).
Kane and Ballas have the high score for the cha cha cha, quickstep (28), samba (26), waltz (29), paso doble (26), and the salsa.
Ward and Johnson hold the high score for the foxtrot (28), jive (26), rumba (27), Viennese waltz (27) and tango (27).
Ward and Johnson have a higher average than Kane and Ballas (25.2 compared to 24.5). Alley and Machio are closer (23.2 versus 23.1 respectively).
Of this field, Macchio is the weakest with his lack of Latin hip movement and flowing arm movement, but he does have personality on the floor and became a hero to many dance fans out there when he helped bring his partner Karina Smirnoff back into the dance during the paso doble and then, last week, dancing despite so little prep time.
Kane and Ward are the best all-around.

One betting website had Wilkinson as the 7/2 favorite followed by Macchio and Ward (11/2). Kane and Sugar Ray Leonard were 6/1 favorites. Alley and Jericho were 10/1.
The website Cleveland.com had Kane as the 3/1 favorite, but thought that Macchio would be off by wee 3. That writer deemed Alley a “trainwreck” and gave her 20/1 odds. That website’s stop four were Kane, Lil Romeo, Sugar Ray Leonard and Hines Ward.
Still another website thought it would be Kane, Macchio, Wilkinson and Sugar Ray Leonard. That website thought that Alley would “go deep but not win.”
Alley has really stood up for thick girls and for older women. She has shown a stamina problem and sometimes forgets to dance and acts the part instead. That’s okay on stage, but not so much for a dance competition.
According to Access Hollywood, Johnson injured her neck during a rehearsal, but has been cleared to compete by the doctors.
Only Kym Johnson and Mark Ballas have won the mirrorball trophy. Ballas won with Olympic ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi (season 6) and Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson (season 8). Johnson won with entertainer Donny Osmond (season 9) in the U.S. and in her native Australia with TV personality Tom Williams (season 2).
