The 11th annual Midsummer Night Drinks to Benefit God’s Love We Deliver was a “wonderful success,” says the charity’s Emily Findley. Hundreds of friends and supporters gathered at the Water Mill home of God’s Love board member Jeff Pfeifle for this signature event of one of New York City’s most beloved charities.
God’s Love We Deliver is the only organization in New York City that provides individually tailored meals, as well as unlimited nutritional counseling, to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-altering illnesses, their children and senior caregivers. Since its inception, the agency has delivered nearly 12 million meals.
Seen at the event were: Calvin Klein and Marci Klein, Kyle MacLachlan and Desiree Gruber, Vicente Wolf, Marjorie Gubelmann, Louis Bradbury, Geoffrey Bradfield, Nick Buoniconti, Ernest de la Torre, Jack deLashmet, Mitch Draizin, Margot Fooshee, Andrew Gordon, Peter Hallock, Peter Huffine, Ford Huniford, Anne Keating, Nathan Orsman & Jose Castro, Kim Seybert, Lisa Sherman, Rod Winterrowd and the Season 2 cast of Logo TV’s “The A-List.”
Here’s how Findley describes the evening: “Delicious passed hors d’oeuvres such as lobster rolls, pigs in blankets and peking duck tacos were catered by Canard, Inc. along with a raw bar, slider bar and fingers sweets. Pernod Ricard USA generously donated all beverages at the bar including the event’s specialty drink, The Absolut Midsummer Night’s Drink: Absolut vodka, pineapple juice and ginger ale, a perfect concoction for the warm summer evening. Guests were serenaded to bluesy and contemporary pop hits throughout the evening by Debra & Patrick, who sang and played keyboards as the sun set on the nautically-themed event. As the evening set in, the perfectly-tended lawn was lit by the exquisite lighting of Orsman Design Inc., ensuring that guests enjoyed themselves and the views of the evening well into the night.”
For the past 25 years God’s Love has responded to the crisis faced by people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves by preparing and delivering the individually-tailored, nutritious meals that each client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require. With the help of 7,600 annual volunteers, a small staff, and a diverse Board, God’s Love We Deliver is on track to deliver one million meals this year. While meeting the increased need for their programs, God’s Love remains committed to their core principles of never charging for a meal, delivering each client’s first meal on the next delivery day, and never maintaining a waiting list.
