Backstage Promo with Christian talking about he always was the last kid to get picked on a team. Yet, he’s always proved everyone wrong. Unfortunately, he’s not been able to prove Vince McMahon wrong for thinking Christian doesn’t deserve the title.
Kane defeated Great Khali in a “Monster’s Brawl” match. After the match, Jinder Mahal convinces Khali to attack and turn on his manager Ranjin Singh. We’re one step closer to Great Khali becoming a heel again.
Alicia Fox and Tamina defeated A.J. and Kaitlyn who’s managed by Natalya. Before the match, they showed a video of Kharma crying in the ring on RAW. The moment that Vince killed off her “air of invincibility”. Kharma did not come out and the fans booed.
Ezekial Jackosn defeated Heath Slater. Jackson wins via DQ after The Corre interferes. It seems that the WWE will continue this storyline into their next PPV Capitol Punishment. I would not be surprised if Jackson wins the IC belt from Barrett at this PPV. He’s be built up for a secondary title run.
#1 Contender’s match: Christian vs. Sheamus. vs Mark Henry – Randy Orton came out and did commentary for the match. Sheamus ended up winning the match to become the new #1 contender. They will most likely be the semi-main event at the PPV in June.
Dark Match Main Event: Randy Orton defeated Christian in the non-televised dark match main event to retain his world heavyweight championship.
Despite the huge backlash over the short title reign for Christian, it appears the WWE is going to beat up the fans of Christian until they say “uncle”. Christian lost at the PPV to Orton and continues to lose in dark matches and house shows to Orton.
I’m a fan of storylines that last a few months and feuds that are built up over time. I like what they’re doing with Jackson and The Corre. It’s a storyline that has logic and has been built up over time. They will continue this into the next PPV where I think Jackson will get his justice at the appropriately titled PPV “Capitol Punishment”. I can see the WWE trying to throw someone into this storyline to help Jackson get even with the Corre. If so, the WWE should use a lesser known wrestler to create a new mid-card star.
As for the rest of SmackDown, pushing Cody Rhodes vs. Daniel Bryan would be solid for the brand. Two great wrestlers who can put on high quality matches for the next few weeks is a win for the wrestling fans and the WWE. Hopefully, they can find a meaningful feud for Sin Cara too because the fans aren’t buying the one with Chavo as nobody thinks Chavo will win.
