Clinico is the recipient of a $150,000 donation from the Found Animals Foundation to support subsidized spay/neuter for cats as part of the Foundation’s broader “Cat Days of Summer” campaign. The grant allows Clinico to expand an existing promotion, which was slated to end May 31, and will now run through September or until 3,000 cats have been sterilized.
The “Cat Days of Summer” spay/neuter promotion will price male cat neutering at $15 and female cat spaying at $25. These prices include pain medication and represent a savings of up to 96% compared to other options. The promotion will now be available at all three Clinico locations: Van Nuys, San Pedro, and Pico Rivera, and will not require income qualification.
The promotion focuses on cats due to their high reproduction rate in the spring and summer months. During this time shelters are flooded with more homeless cats and kittens than can be handled. Over 70% of cats that enter Los Angeles area shelters are euthanized and the problem is most acute during the summer months. Spay/Neuter is one tool available to minimize these statistics.
“We are grateful to receive this donation from Found Animals Foundation, which will allow us to continue to offer this important service at reduced prices to Los Angeles area residents,” said Noel Jackson, Director of Operations at Clinico.
“With affordable options like this, we hope that cost will no longer be a determining factor in the sterilization decision for cat owners,” she continued.
Spaying and neutering cats offers a variety of benefits including avoiding the risk of unwanted litters, elimination of nuisance urine marking, and lower risk of certain cancers. In addition, sterilizing cats helps to reduce the number of homeless cats prevalent in many Los Angeles communities.
“We hope that every cat owner will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to prevent unwanted litters and help to save thousands of homeless cats from euthanasia,” Jackson added.
To make an appointment at any of the three Los Angeles locations, or for more information, pet owners can call toll-free 1-888-WE SPAY LA or (888) 937-7295. Other low-cost services, such as microchipping and vaccinations, as well as other opportunities for low-cost spay/neuter services by breed and/or zip code, are also available.
