Low pressure had formed over the Pennsylvania and Virginia border early Friday morning. This low pressure area will move slowly north and east to be over Southern New England this afternoon, and then the Gulf of Maine by Saturday. Periods of soaking rainfall will visit the region through the day today as result of this sluggish low pressure circulation.
With the departure of the surface low pressure area on Saturday will come the entrance of a deep upper level low pressure area, centered over southeastern Canada. This low pressure area will keep the region socked in cloud cover, with only some breaks of sunshine from time to time over the weekend. A few showers will be possible from time to time, though a washout is not anticipated. It will be quite cool, with high temperatures forecast to average below normal.
The work week will feature several fast moving weather systems impacting the area. One such system looks to pass through around Tuesday, and another one Thursday. At this point, it looks as if a the region may have some showers to deal with from these systems as they pass through.
