The leading edge of cooler air, a cold front, was slowly pressing through the Capital Region this morning. Precipitation associated with this feature had already moved well south of the area, with the front itself just about to cross the region. High pressure will build into the area, from the upper Great Lakes, through the day today.
The frontal system is forecast to make it as far south at the mid Atlantic states before it stalls tonight. A wave of low pressure is forecast to form along the stalled out boundary, in the vicinity of the Pennsylvania and Virginia border tonight. This low pressure area is then forecast to move slowly north and east, through the region, on Friday, to be over the Gulf of Maine by Saturday morning. The work week looks to end on a rainy and soggy note.
Unsettled weather looks to persist through the coming weekend, as a large upper level low pressure system keeps the region in its grip. This will spell lots of clouds with off and on shower activity. Though it won’t be a washout by any means, pesky showers will likely have to be dodged from time to time. Temperatures will be kept in check thanks to the cloud cover, and me be a shade below normal.
