A stalling cold front will continue to slowly ooze southward over the region through the morning hours. This front will eventually stall to our south tonight before lifting back northward as a warm front Thursday. As we head toward the holiday weekend, the immediate Capital Region looks to see its first taste of summer-like conditions. Increasing levels of heat and humidity will be the story through the end of the work week and into the weekend along with the chance of showers and thunderstorms as low pressure works its way from the central plains to the lower Great Lakes and southeastern Canada through Saturday. This will keep a stationary frontal boundary draped just to the north of the region. This boundary will oscillate over the same general area for the balance of the coming weekend.
The upshot of the entire forecast is increasing warmth, humidity, and the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms may be quite strong. It should be stressed that a washout is not anticipated at this point in time for any day of the holiday weekend. Temperatures look to remain above normal through this period, with precipitation averaging near normal.
