Discussion: Wednesday was a very warm day inland, but those on the coast caught a break, as a seabreeze developed along coastal communities, knocking temperatures back to the 70’s during the afternoon……Heat and potential for severe storms will be the headline for Thursday. Expect temperatures well into the 90’s today. Doubtful if a seabreeze develops, so everyone will be experiencing the heat. As a cold front approaches eastern sections of Massachusetts, a line of showers and thunderstorms will develop ahead of the front, during the afternoon hours. Some of the thunderstorms could be severe, with damaging winds and large hail. This activity will last into the evening and then subside overnight with occasional showers, as the front pushes through our area and off the coast by Friday morning. Friday will slowly clear in the morning and temperatures cooler, in the 70’s, with the cooling trend continuing into Saturday. Low pressure may bring showers to us on Saturday night, Sunday and possibly into Monday.
Pollen Count: Concentration of pollen will push levels to the high side, with readings about 9.3 for Thursday. On Friday the levels may fall back to the moderate range, in part due to the expected showers of Thursday and Thursday night, which help to wash pollen from the air.
Update at 5 pm: A solid line of showers and thunderstorms from the Merrimac Valley, to Worcester and southwestward, is moving southeast and approaching the western and northern suberbs of Boston. Some of these storms are producing heavy rainfall, gusty winds and vivid lightning. It is expected this line of showers will reach the Boston area before 6 pm. Conditions may deteriorate quickly, once the showers and storms hit.
