Forecast Discussion: After seeing some quick bursts of rain on Sunday morning, we will begin to see more of the same over Massachusetts today. Patchy fog will be around the coastline this morning, along with scattered showers. A low pressure system over the Mid-Atlantic will remain stationary over the next few days. An upper level low in the atmosphere will be over this area, and will become cut off. This means that there will be no jet stream winds to help move this low to the east. At the surface, the low will help keep moisture over New England, and thus creating bands of showers from time to time. The short range models do agree that we will see our heaviest precipitation on Tuesday and Wednesday. A thunderstorm or two may develop during the daytime, as well. The surface low will begin to move southward into the Southeast U.S. by Thursday. The upper level low will also begin to push eastward, and the surface low will begin to weaken. Scattered showers will remain in the forecast until Friday night. Partly sunny conditions are expected by Saturday, but the long range models want to develop some afternoon showers, as the low will still be over the coast. For now, I will keep them out of the weekend forecast. However, my confidence in the forecast for Saturday remains low at this time.
