In the realm of gamers, there are three things that any gamer wishes to experience in his/her life. First they wish to go to one of the many gaming/comic book conventions (the greatest of which unfortunately occur in California). Second is their desire to master their chosen game to such a degree that they have no equal but they can still be beaten (because what fun is a game you can’t lose at?). And finally, there is the greatest of all these things. Each gamer, no matter what they play or who their favorite characters are, will want a replica of their favorite weapon. For War gamers, this isn’t hard if they know the location of an Army Surplus store. For fighting gamers, however, it is an almost impossible endeavor. Cincinnati, despite being known as a major metropolis on the east coast, is just like nearly every other city in America: blacksmithless. That doesn’t, however, mean that you’re dreams of owning a replica of you’re favorite weapon is dead. Instead, gamers are to search the web. The best website to use is Trueswords.com which has replica swords from many famous fighting characters for a cheap price (but slightly expensive shipping*). Here’s a list of their replicas to pique your interest:
Ichigo Kurosaki’s Zangetsu: Despite looking slightly ridiculous in the games/cartoons/comics, this sword is almost terrifying in real life. It is a solid steel, 52 in. (more than 4ft.) long, and with identical coloring (black steel with a white edge). For any Bleach Lover, it’s a great piece as well as cheap too. For $39.99, it can be bought in two colors (black with white edge or white with black edge) and comes with a free wooden display stand.
Krato’s Blade of Chaos: If Zangetsu is scary, The B.o.C. is easily the things nightmares are made of. It is an zinc-aluminum replica of the famous blades wielded by the God of War himself, complete with attached chains. Unlike them, however, this blade doesn’t come in a pair. For the price of $103.99, you get a single blade as well multiple display aides (including a tabletop display). For those more devoted fans, however, is the $141.99 Limited addition which features better designs, longer chains, a wall plaque, and multiple proofs of authenticity.
Link’s Twilight Princess Master Sword: Before anything can be said about this sword, there is a word of advice that must be followed. Trueswords.com does focus mainly on actual metal replicas of swords but it does sell L.A.R.P. accessories (Live Action Role-Playing). When buying any of these make sure that they are safe for you or you’re children or who ever plans to use it. This sword is not one of those accessories. It is a solid steel duplicate of the sword used by the great hero Link in the game Twilight Princess. Complete with scabbard, it is a great replica but not any way a toy. Trueswords does, however, sell a Link Shiled replica that can be used or can be added to the sword as a decorative wall hanger.
