During the June 13, 2011 episode of ABC’s The Bachelorette, fans throughout Scottsdale watched as Ashley Hebert tried to put the Bentley Williams fiasco behind her. This morning Ashley’s weekly blog is up at People.com, and Hebert shares her thoughts about her week with the guys in Thailand. Was she able to find chemistry with the remaining guys and forget about Bentley?
Ashley shares that as she watched the episode, she still cringed every time Bentley’s name was mentioned. She says, however, that by the end of the week in Thailand, she was able to see significant differences between the relationship she had with Bentley and the genuine, real relationships she was developing with the bachelors. Ashley’s first date was with Constantine, and she realized that he was exactly the type of guy she had been hoping to find. Even though the pair had to change their plans for the date due to the weather, they had great conversation and their connection grew stronger.
Hebert says that her favorite date was the group date at the Baan San Fan Orphanage. She felt incredible about having organized the date and loved the feedback from the guys that the experience had been life-changing. Throughout the date, Ashley began to see the guys in a different light. Ben F. in particular melted her heart after he played with the kids and painted a mural for the orphanage.
Ashley’s other 1-on-1 date was with Ames Brown, and she admits she didn’t know what to expect going into her date with him. Her initial impression of him was that he was quite conservative, but as they spent time together she was surprised by his good heart and intelligent humor. After she saw this new side to Ames, she knew she wanted to keep him around and get to know him better. Ashley acknowledges that there wasn’t a romantic connection there at that point, but she wanted to explore what could be between them.
As Ashley closes her blog, she shares a thought that fans will surely embrace. As fans watch Hebert transition from the drama of Bentley to the romance of the guys who have a genuine interest in her, they hope she can see her opportunities in a new light. Ashley wrote, “The most important lesson I took away is that the best type of love starts off with a slow burn, and eventually turns into something much brighter than a spark ever could.”
While the Bentley drama isn’t over yet, this week showed that Ashley is willing to take a deep breath and embrace a fresh start to finding love. Ashley herself admitted during the episode that she had been overlooking some of the great guys in front of her due to her distraction with Bentley, and fans are thrilled. Viewers have already picked their favorites, and are rooting for Ashley to discover what they have already noticed.
