Musician coach Adam Levine chose Javier Colon to represent Team Adam in the Final Four on The Voice Finale. The artist for each coaches’ team was chosen by a combination of the coaches’ vote and the audience vote. With two artists left on their team, the coaches had a 100 points to divide between the artist. Although Javier has been a favorite to win since the blind auditions, everyone was surprised when Adam gave Javier 65 points and Casey Weston only 35 points.
Not getting chosen until her second attempt at auditioning, 18 year old Casey Weston had shown a lot of growth, improving with each performance. Maroon 5’s singer Adam Levine had clearly been impressed with her. Adam and Casey had developed a rapport with Adam pushing her to work outside of her comfort zone. So why the low score? Adam explained that the scores were not a reflection on Casey and Javier’s talent because Adam believed they were both talented. With Javier’s past struggles in the music business, Adam felt he had to make sure he pushed Javier through to the finals.
With the audience scores, Javier Colon advanced to the second round. Adam Levine lept to the stage to hug Casey Weston first. He seemed almost unable to let her go, assuring her of his belief in her talent and her future as an artist. Adam then joined Javier, clearly proud of his final representative of Team Adam.
