Episode 4 of ABC’s The Bachelorette 2011 had fans hoping for a less heart-breaking, more romance-filled episode now that Bentley Williams is gone. Bachelorette Ashley Hebert is still struggling with the aftermath of Bentley leaving, but she is pushing forward. Ashley and the men jet off to Thailand for the next round of dates. Ashley says she is hoping she can dig herself out of the hole of focusing on Bentley. She realizes that to find love she needs to let go, be open, have fun and enjoy the journey.
Constantine Tzortzis gets the first 1-on-1 date with Ashley, and this is the first time the two have spent much time together. Severe weather causes problems with their initial plan, so instead the two head into the local town to meet some local people and see the area. Ashley loves that Constantine just goes with the flow, so the two seem very relaxed with one another. Ashley feels like she’s gotten a little bit of her heart back during her date with Constantine, and he gets a rose.
The next date on this week’s episode of ABC’s The Bachelorette 2011 is a group date to the Baan San Fan orphanage. This orphanage is helping children who lost their parents in the 2004 tsunami, and the building is in rough shape. The guys are motivated and energized to dig into the project, and everyone seems impressed that Ashley pulled together the idea. While all the guys pull together to decorate, paint and renovate the building, Ryan Park is starting to irritate the guys. The guys feel like he is constantly “on” and it is getting on people’s nerves.
Ashley notices that the guys aren’t even flirting with her during the date – J.P. says that they are all there to make a difference and work hard. Ashley seems a little worried about the guys focusing so much on the project and so little on her, but she continues to visit the guys with their various projects. Ben F. works on a mural for the children, and Ashley loves it. Later the children from the orphanage come out and greet everybody, and there are smiles all-around.
The group goes on to have a fun evening of drinks and fun. Ben F. and Ashley spend some time together, and kissing ensues. In the meantime, the guys continue to feel annoyed by Ryan. Will suggests that it’s purely the guys feeling intimidated, as Ryan seems to have a clear shot at the Top 4. Toward the end of the date, Ben F. gets the group date rose. The jealousy amongst the guys is really starting to show, but the group date wraps up with everyone racing into the water and letting loose.
Next, Ashley heads off on a 1-on-1 date with Ames Brown. The two connect well as they dine aboard a boat and sightsee along the Thai coast. Ashley is intrigued by his personality and she loves that he is both spontaneous and grounded. The two then go kayaking, and they take in the indescribable beauty of the area. Ashley and Ames really bond as they drink champagne on the sand, and the date carries over into plenty of interesting conversation over dinner. Ashley makes him worry a tad, but he gets a rose at the end of the date. The two never kissed during the date, but Ashley commented that she may well have overlooked Ames if Bentley had still been in the group.
