The Duggar family has a strong tradition of helping others in need, so when the deadly tornado struck Joplin, just an hour’s drive from their home in Tontitown, several of the older Duggar children sprang into action. Josh Duggar was interviewed in Joplin today by Good Morning America. Clad in a hardhat, the oldest Duggar child said…

According to TMZ, Dad Jim Bob, Josh, John, Jana, Jill, Jessa, Joseph set out for Joplin shortly after the monstrous tornado hit. The Duggar family loaded up three vehicles with supplies and Jim Bob and five Duggar children drove to Joplin on Sunday night. Rescue officials immediately put the Duggars to work, assigning them to search for survivors or to hand out much-needed supplies. Several of the Duggar children are fire department volunteers, so they were well suited for search and rescue work.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have always stressed the importance of giving back to their nineteen children. Earlier this year, Jim Bob said during an episode of 19 Kids & Counting…
One of the most important things we can teach our children is to have a ministry mindset. We hope to make a difference.
Last year, the most of the Duggar family traveled to Central America on an annual mission trip. They delivered Christmas gifts to needy families in remote villages. “It’s such a joy giving to others and investing in other’s lives that we’re going to reap a lot more blessings than we will give,” Jim Bob said of his family’s strong belief in helping others.
It’s no surprise that the Duggar family is in Joplin, lending a hand with search and recovery efforts. That’s just how the Duggars roll.
